Third Partial 2009-2010

My dear students, as I was in a Sabatical Semester, I am returning to my classes, hoping that you had had a very good teacher in the first and second partials. We are going to see the themes for this third partial.
Just in case you have any doubts or things you didn´t understand, I will give you the URL of the National Preparatory School so you can download the program. I can give you also the URL of my blog I used with my students last year so you can check some themes of the program that you have not understood well.
The site where you can download the program is:
http://www.dgenp.unam.mx/planesdeestudio/96/quinto/1506.pdf

The URL of my last year´s blog is:http://inglesv0809.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

In that place you can review and check all the sites that are going to help you to learn or review a lot of things.

I hope that we can make a very good teamwork and we will work very hard to fulfill this goal. Instead of telling you "good luck" I will tell you "good work", because hard work is the one that is going to help us reach our goals of learning and enjoying English.

Hi guys, I have written a new URL for you to make the activity of asking favors.  You go to that site, listen and read the script, and then, do the quizz that it is in the bottom part of the page, do it, print it and bring it to class.  We´ll see you. Bye for now.

I do some activities and i can see that every link have an article. On the first one i read the diference betwen Can and could, one is more formal than the other one. the second one was about the things you can't do, and the diferent forms to say it.
I like some of the articles, because i learn new things.
So it's time to say goodbye.

  20. Hello teacher..
I'm Valentín Héctor López Del Águila, group 508 roll number: 12
I've read posts on how to know when using "can not" and when used "unable to".
Well, I understood that the difference is mainly that "can not" is used in talks routine, informal, and "unable to" is more for a formal English.
Also check the posts that talk about the difference between "have not" and "not must" and understand that by denying the "have" lost the mandatory and is understood as simply should not, as a council. and instead the "must" refers to a negative obligation.
I have clarified my doubts on this website, and others I would like to resolve in class with you, if no problem. Thanks

Try to make COMPLETE SENTENCES. The order is SUBJET - VERB - COMPLEMENT. So, when you say: "check some links", actually you are saying that you have checked some links, so it is PAST TENSE, and you have to use the SUBJECT. So, this expression must be: "I CHECKED some lins", the same as "try", I TRIED. It cost me a bit...

Hi teacher I'm Carolina García Esparza of the group:508 roll number 8 in the blog I learned that the passive voice is used for focused the attention on the object of the sentence and not the subject, we can change the passive voice to active voice, now focused teh attention on the subject as we do always, I learnd when will we prefere to use the passive voice in preference of tha active voice, almost when we don't know the subject I almost know how to use must, going to, could and to have been. And for last I know how to cahnge of time and tense. I think is a diferent form to learn english and that is more interactive and funny and at the same time we are learning how to use English in all the forms and tenses.

Unit eleven learned to use the may and might and might is more than that may used.

These are the modal verbs that are followed by a To infinity and that result by May- puedo, Might - podria. They are used to express possibility. It may be rain-rain - It might rain - could see rain. In this sense Might be less likely to May.

May is also used to give and ask for permission. May I go out? Yes, you may

  173. hello, teacher...
I check the unit 10 again, because in the exam wrong me more in the passive voice, I think that the passive voice is some difficult and I as a rule confuse me with the order... I have to study more for learn well.
    The structure is:
    subject + verb + object
We need the "to be" + past participle
    For example:
The boss invited her to the party.
The drawing is made of special paper.

  175. Hello Teacher!!
I do some activities and with the examples, I understood better the formal structure to ask for favors, when using: "would you mind". In this case the verb must go on continuous present and when we respond by accepting, say no, because we are using mind.
In the examples to ask for favors, I found the structure: Will you hand me a pencil?, I do not know if it is correct but I think it best: Will you lend me a pencil?.

Also, I saw some ways to say thank you after someone does us a favor and that some forms are more formal than others, such as: Thank you so much, and Thanks, I really appreciate it.

  176. Hello again, teacher!!
I worked on the basic grammar of modals, in this case the modal auxiliary verbs are used to adapt the main verb, depending on context. With the examples, I understood that the modal verbs themselves are not used unless there is a clear connection to the main verb of the sentence, as when we say: He must finish his homework.

These modals also we use to make requests and with constraints, which are the verbs in simple form, for example, Will you help me? But when a person shows more respect and courtesy, use modal auxiliary verbs as Could or would, for example: Would you mind opening the door?

    Hi teacher!
In unit 10 I review the passive voice because I have a lot of doubts at the exam with the structure and now I have clear some tips of how rewriting active sentences in passive voice:

    * the object of the active sentence becomes the subject of the passive sentence
    * the finite form of the verb is changed (to be + past participle)
    * the subject of the active sentence becomes the object of the passive sentence

So I hope following this tips I could change active sentence into passive =)

  184. Unit 11

This unit is about the use of verbs may and might to talk about possibility I don’t have troubles in the use of this verbs so I gave only a quick review of this topic.
I also learned that te difference between may and might is that may is a little bit "more sure" than might.

    ResponderEliminar
  185. But in fact in this unit number 11 is not only about may and might, I checked that there are more words and phrases for talking about possibility in English such as; Can,Could,Maybe,Perhaps,Probably in this topic I don´t have issues.

    =)

  188. Unit 12
I review this unit because I consider that is pretty difficult and I have a lot of troubles understanding modals especially have to and must the difference between them and how to use one or another when is requested.
Other topic that is so interesting for me is the way to request something in polite form using Would you/Could You or Would You like? That is including in the Modals and Conditionals unit .

  189. At unit 12 I solve the quiz about must and have to and I realized that I was right saying I have a lot of troubles with the use of must and have to.
I also realized that Must is a necesity decided by the speaker
I mean is and internal obligation
and Have/has to is a external
    obligation
    =D!!!
so this could be a tip to avoid issues solving this kind of excercises !!!

  192. Hi teacher…
My name is Angelica Limon Gonzalez, roll number 11 and group 508.
Today, I check “should” and I learned much things about of this unit:
We use 'should' for giving advice.
    • You should speak to him about it.
    • He should see a doctor.
    • We should ask a lawyer.
We use 'should' to give an opinion or a recommendation.
    • He should resign now.
    • We should invest more in Asia.
    • They should do something about this terrible train service.
'Should' expresses a personal opinion and is much weaker and more personal than 'must' or 'have to'. It is often introduced by ' I think'.
    • I think they should replace him.
    • I don't think they should keep the contract.
    • Do you think we should tell her.
    bye, teacher...
